The recap of Lord Snow S1 E3 starts when the royal party arrives at the King’s Landing and is greeted by the Steward in the Red Keep’s courtyard. Eddard is told that the meeting of the Small Council has already begun without him.
As Ned moves through the room to the chamber, he meets Jaime Lannister, sitting at the foot of the Iron Throne. While in the chamber, the audience is informed about the murder of King Aerys Targaryen by Jaime and Jaime reminds Eddard that his father, Rickard Stark, was murdered by Aerys. Eddard does not consider this scenario for Lannister to break his oath as a knight at the Kingsguard. Eddard then joins the small council that consists of Littlefinger, Lord Renly, Lord Varys and Grand Maester Psycelle. We learn that Littlefinger was once in love with Catelyn Stark.
Cersei is checking the wounds of her son, Joffrey, and tells him that people can say whatever they want but he fought the direwolf bravely. Then Joffrey asks whether she can marry Sansa, and Cersei says it is so. Cersei also suggests that he may simply sleep with her if he wants. Joffrey is reluctant to treat Sansa well.
Eddard gets back to his keep and finds that Arya is furious at Sansa for lying to protect Joffrey. Ned informs Arya that Joffrey will be a king one day because he is king and that Sansa will become his wife when he is king. Eddard realizes that Ayra is unhappy trying to be a lady and hires her a sword teacher, Syrio Forel.
Catelyn secretly arrives at the Kings Landing and is taken by a pair of the city watchmen to Littlefinger’s brothel. Varys, Littlefinger, Catelyn and Ser Rodrik discuss the murder attempt of Bran. Littlefinger shocks them all by telling them that the assassin’s sword was Tyrion Lannister’s. Littlefinger then arranges a meeting between Catelyn and Eddard. Ned believes that this is a sign of Littlefinger’s trustworthiness.
At the Wall, Jon Snow is having a difficult time getting along with the other members of the Night’s Watch. They believe that he feels he is better than them because he was a lord’s son. After receiving some advice from Tyrion, Jon realizes that he has to modify his behavior. They become friends.
Across the Narrow Sea, Daenerys is becoming more comfortable with the Dothraki. However, her relationship with her brother is becoming frayed. He is nearly killed by one of the bloodriders after he tries to assault Daenerys. Daenerys realizes that she is pregnant.
